Hello to all our members. There has been a lot of activity with the still increase in COVID-19 cases in Arizona. Many are starting to feel financial stress, lockdown syndrome, and loneliness. I think we all know there are so many issues that are becoming evident, so if need answers, we can help. If we don't know the answers, we can refer you to someone who can help.
There is nothing happening right now in the Legislature but you might be interested in reading about the plan to change the Twin Knolls. There is a campaign to "Save the Twin Knolls". In the area of the Twin Knolls are at least three manufactured home parks whose residents are following this as a concern. A proposed mining project has been approved. You can read about this issue at www.savetwinknolls.com. There is also a GoFundMe account to raise money for expenses and legal action to stop the mining of the Knolls.
We would like to take a minute to thank all who have sent donations to help us stay active. As you know we are a non-profit organization that doesn't charge a membership fee to keep you informed or provide help.
DONATIONS ARE NOW DEDUCTIBLE FROM YOUR STATE TAXES!
Recently, we applied to the State of Arizona for a Qualifying Charitable Organization (QCO) number. On the 16th of June we were granted a QCO number. WHat does this mean? Theis code will identify our organization to donors seeking to utilize the tax credit. We have been added to the list of qualifying charitable organizations on the Arizona Department of Revenue website. This list can be found at www.azdor/gov. Just click on "tax credits", Contributions to Qualifying Charitable Organizations and then select the 2020 QCO list.
This is a great thing for those who have been helping in 2020 keep our organization alive with funding by donations. That is how we are able to carry on

FEBRUARY 8, 2020
On February 6, four UMHOV board members attended the Arizona Housing Coalition's Day at the Capitol where they met with members of the Arizona Legislature to discuss affordable housing and homelessness in the state.  They also were able to attend a hearing in the House, and a session in the Senate.

Kelly reported she has met with several park residents/managers in the area to resolve landlord/tenant issues. The word is spreading about our organization and our services. People are calling and asking for information.
Vice President DiIenno reported:
• Due to a resignation from someone in another state Rita submitted an application to be a member of the MHCC in Washington DC and has been appointed to the Census Committee of HUD. This is a structure committee meaning plumbing, electrical & what is built in the shop on manufactured housing. She & Yielding will now attend DC meetings together.
Kelly reported on her Washington, DC Meeting of the Manufactured Housing Consensus Committee. This committee is comprised of manufacturers, sellers, construction & users (three (3) yr. terms). Discussions were held daily from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm on land use, manufacturing restrictions & anything & everything HUD has within their power to do with manufacturing. Manufacturers expressed their frustration with the old laws still in effect. Kelly’s subcommittee – the “User/Consumer” group analyzed 110 issues which were submitted to HUD. Among these was the recommendation for 36” doors & doorways to accommodate wheelchairs.
Another issue UMHOV has been working on with HUD is to have park models designated as manufactured homes on a Federal level.   This would make them covered under Arizona's Landlord Tenant Act.

NOVEMBER 2019
We are now offering Park Manager training!  Our first class was held in October 2019 where 6 people, including board members, received their certificates.  Response to the training has been overwhelmingly positive.  Call 254-368-7809 to schedule your management training today.
All board positions are now filled, opening the way to apply for grants.
MAY 21 2019,

Board of Directors met to discuss recent successes and future plans.  Founder/CEO Kelly Yielding thanked everyone for carrying on while she was away from her duties.  This year we've fielded numerous requests for help and information, allowing us to assist both residents and managers in resolving issues by helping them navigate the complexities of the Landlord Tenant Act.
Membership is growing at a respectable pace, giving us a greater pool of people on which we can rely for help and information.

We have found a graphic artist who will fashion for us a logo for use on our website, Facebook page and correspondence.

In July 2018, Founder/CEO, Kelly Yielding was chosen as a member of the Manufactured Housing Consensus Committee

The Manufactured Housing Consensus Committee is a Federal advisory committee to the Secretary, Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Its objective is to provide advice as prescribed by the Manufactured Housing Improvement Act of 2000 (.www.hud.gov/mbs & mhcc@homeinnovation.com) to 1) Provide periodic recommendations to the Secretary to 1) adopt, revise, and interpret the Federal manufactured housing construction and safety standards; and 2) adopt, revise, and interpret the procedural and enforcement regulations, including regulations specifying the permissible scope and conduct of monitoring.”

In September, Kelly attended a three day meeting in Washington DC. Where she met the entire 21 voting member committee and worked on issues concerning manufactured housing. During her 3 year appointment she will serve on one of the three committee categories: (1) Producers. Seven (7) producers or retailers of manufactured housing: (2) Users. Seven (7) persons representing consumer interests (including organizations, recognized consumer leaders and owner/residents of manufactured homes): and (3) General interest and public officials. Seven (7) general interest and public official members three of whom must be a representative of the Public Official Category. Kelly is on the “User/Consumer” subcommittee which continues regular online communication as needed or when contacted by HUD..

Many proposals were reviewed by the 21-voting members. This procedure involved input from all members. After lengthy discussion and revision in the subcommittee the proposals come before the entire committee for approval. When approved they are then forwarded to the Secretary for consideration to become law. After the HUD Secretary approves a proposal it immediately becomes law.
