ACTION ALERT

MARCH 2020

Please contact members of the Senate Appropriations Committee NOW and ask them to pass HB2732, tax credit; affordable housing..  This bill would establish an Arizona low income housing tax credit (LIHTC), which mirrors the federal LIHTC, and annually allocates up to $8 million to induce more affordable housing development.  According to an economic study commissioned by the Arizona Housing Coalition, if passed, the state LIHTC program would generate 6,180 more affordable homes over the six-year program.

Take Action

The Senate Appropriations committee members need to hear from you that this bill needs to pass!  If you have a ‘Request to Speak’ account, please sign in to support HB2732.

Step 2

Since rumors of budget negotiations are swirling down at the Capitol, it is important that lawmakers hear from their constituents – you!  They need to know that the work that you all do requires a state investment in the form of restoring the state housing trust fund AND enacting a state low-income housing tax credit.  Not either/or, but both resources are needed to address the affordable housing crisis in our state, before we face the same predicament of our Pacific coast neighboring states.

Please contact your elected officials and let them know that you want their support on HB2732, the bill that creates a tax credit that mirrors the federal LIHTC program and bolsters the production of affordable housing across the state AND restoration of the state housing trust fund included in this budget cycle!
